Regions Hospital's Family Birth Center Glass & Glazing Design-Assist Project Spotlight
W. L. Hall Company's $4,000,000 Regions Hospital's Family Birth Center glass and glazing project was a comprehensive design-assist collaboration between W. L. Hall Company, BWBR Architects, Kraus-Anderson Construction & Erie Architectural Products.
Primary project components:
- Custom unitized curtainwall solution: W.L. Hall Company suggested a custom unitized curtainwall that met the building's extreme structural and thermal performance requirements.
- Regular meetings: W.L. Hall Company's drafting and design team brought in engineers from the curtainwall manufacturer. The team scheduled approximately eight weekly meetings at BWBR's office along with Kraus-Anderson Construction & Erie Architectural Products
- Cost-efficient option: The team partnered at every step to provide the most cost-efficient option possible while ensuring that none of the thermal requirements of the project were compromised.
- Cost-saving measures: Throughout the design-assist process, W.L. Hall Company suggested dozens of cost-saving measures that allowed the architectural team to achieve the aesthetic look they desired without adding unnecessary cost to the project.
- Early project completion: The project was turned over months earlier than the original schedule projected due to the successful collaboration between the teams.
- Few punch-list items: The teams completed the installation in record time, and the project received virtually zero punch-list items upon completion.
