McKEON AC8800 for HealthPartners Specialty Care Center in Woodbury
We collaborated with BWBR Architects (St. Paul) and Kraus-Anderson Construction on the installation of the McKeon Model AC8800-CP (compressed pocket) accordion fire door system for HealthPartners Specialty Care Center in Woodbury, MN.
With its advanced fire and smoke-rating and computer control technology, the AC8800CP keeps people safe during fire emergencies.
Why the AC8800CP is a Game-Changer:
- The AC8800CP has up to a 3-hour fire rating (UL 10B) with "S" label.
- Accordion Magic: Thanks to its folding design, this system retracts neatly out of sight when not needed, keeping the bright, open layout you love. This almost 28' door stacks into a pocket under 4' deep!
- Big and Bold: Got a wide space? No problem! It covers large openings (80 foot plus!) without pesky vertical posts.
- Hands-Free Deployment: Hook it up to your building’s fire alarm system and watch it spring into action automatically during an emergency.
- Style Points: Some doors are used only during alarm situations. Some doors are seen and used everyday for traffic control or security applications. For doors used everyday, a wide variety of powder coat color options are available.
- ADA Compliant: It’s designed to be accessible so everyone can move smoothly and safely through the opening when needed.

In collaboration with Alliiance Architects (Minneapolis) and Sheehy Construction (St. Paul), our team helped bring their meeting room renovation design at the Minneapolis Convention Center to life—delivering Modernfold Acousti-Seal Encore® operable wall systems (STC 54) designed for flexibility, performance, and long-term durability. When most design professionals start thinking about using an operable wall system, they usually focus on the panel. That makes sense as panel type, STC levels, and finishes are important. What about the track? After all, unless the system is motorized, those panels aren't going to move themselves! Some of the panels on this project weigh almost 800 lbs.! By using radius curved track, Modernfold was able to design a wall and track system that will provide easy operation for years to come.
